Sadly the family dog, Barney, has reached a great old age and as a result has become very infirm. He's blind, has diabetes, and arthritis. Despite all this he's comfortable and is not suffering any obvious pain. It's very hard to know what to do when a family pet reaches the last stages. We don't want him to suffer, but we'd feel it'd be very wrong to have him put down simply because his medication is expensive and he's become inconvenient to us. For the moment, we're happy to continue to look after him. He's given us much pleasure over the years and should be rewarded and loved accordingly. When he reaches the point of constant pain. That's when we'll make the dread decision to end his life.

Here's a quick sketch I did of Barney today.
