Please keep me posted on the release of your book. I hope you will include the huge and healing effect that an accepting, welcoming, and loving community/family has on recovery and return to a good life. Also I hope you will include the contribution people who have gone into the abyss make to our society. The insights, compassion for each other and strangers, the kindnesses, the seeing through levels of ego and other's fear is astounding if we take time to look. Often there is just no way to speak the language of people with a brain that is ordered differently than most of the population, so we miss what they have to tell us. It is a world that I have been privileged to be invited into this world by my family member's friends and him. He was misdiagnosed but became part of this loving community of people with so-called mental illness. Yes they hear and see things most people do not. What they have to offer, when treated with respect, caring and admiration, is far superior to many so called "successful" and "normal" people. Were we to treat them as possibly fragile, and possibly spiritual, sensitive, honored, we would learn much in how to care for each other. Perhaps most people's fear is the fear of seeing the truth of their own ego, lack of compassion, and fear, in the eyes of someone they judge for their appearance. There is much to learn about mental "illness" and it is not all medical, brain and body related.
